Customs Information
for your trip to Point Hope Maritime

Each person aboard the vessel must have picture identification
showing name and date of birth. A passport is preferred,
but a drivers' licence and birth certificate may be acceptable.
If children are aboard you must carry identification for each
child. Divorced parents should have copies of custody documents.
Adults who are not parents or guardians should have written permission
from the parents for the children.
Registration of the vessel will need to be provided.
Victoria Customs will issue you a Canadian Custom Clearance
Number, which will allow you to remain in Canada for up to 6
months. Providing Point Hope Maritime with your Custom Clearance
Number will ensure that no Canadian taxes will be charged on
your repair work.
Dogs and cats from the United States need signed and dated certificates
from a veterinarian verifying that the animals have been vaccinated
against rabies within the last three years. If your dogs or cats
are less than three months old you do not need a rabies vaccination
certificate to enter Canada.
Please be aware that you must know exactly how much alcohol,
tobacco and firearms are onboard. You are allowed up to 1.5 litres
of wine, 1.14 litres of liquor, or 24 x 355 ml cans or bottles
of beer or ale. The tobacco allowance is up to 200 cigarettes,
50 cigars, 200 grams of manufactured tobacco and 200 tobacco
sticks.
Handguns are not permitted in Canada.
In addition, there is a $50.00 Cdn. registration fee for each
rifle and shotgun.
